Pic Tut: Smokey Browns

Hi Beauties,

This is a pretty basic brown "smokey" eye look that I did today.  As you all probably know by now, I am generally very light handed when it comes to applying makeup so don't expect anything extremely SMOKEY haha.. I appologize in advance as the colors seem to be a bit washed out in the pictures :( in real life the eye makeup is definitely darker.  I would myself reserve this look for the evening time or on days off :) But depending on your level of comfort, this look can be worn day or night :) Hope you enjoy!!! :P

 Products:
Face: Guerlain Parure extreme in 02, Guerlain radiance extract, MAC cream blush in ladyblush, Givenchy LE unique compact powder in island sun, MAC MSF in by candlelight.
Shiseido brow pencil in natural blackMaybelline stiletto voluptous mascara waterproof, maybelline age rewind concealer in light*forgot to put this w/ face stuff*, Lise Watier liquid eyeliner in Noir, my trusty almay liner, too faced shadow insurance, Maybelline quads in Natural Smokes and Chai latte, and MAC baked quad in odd bits.
Primed my lips with Dior Creme De Rose, lightly applied Dior Addict lipcolor in 859 Rose libertin Ravishing Rose.

1. Starting off with a a clean face!
Here I have already applied primer + foundation + concealer.
I also did my eyebrows, tight lined my upper lashline + primed my eyes.

2. Eye shadows are applied as following:
Chai Latte
Natural Smokes

Light brown shade all over lid and just below brow bone.
Apply 2 to just above natural crease.

Apply 3 to outer "v" * I like to make a "C" instead to make it look a bit softer. Make sure you blend away the harsh edges! If the colors fade too much, don't be scared to add some back on!
How my eyes looks so far.
I like to add a shimmery color to just the inner 1/3 of my lid
Here I have already lined my eyes using a liquid liner. Wing out the liner at the ends.
Lined the outer 2/3 of my bottom lashline w/ 2&3. Then highlighted inner corner w/ 5.
 * I forgot to mention my highlight color - see products! *

Added some mascara. What a difference mascara makes :)

Eye makeup done!
 3.
Time to add some bronzer, blush & lip color!

FOTD + semi-tutorial - image heavy!

It's been a while since I've done a FOTD. I feel that this is sort of a clean + minimalistic(but you will prob disagree after seeing the # of products I use haha) look, which is what I like :) ENJOY!!

FACE PRODUCTS

1. I applied Revlon's phototready foundation in Shell then concealed with MAC Studio finish concealer in NC20
2. Then I dusted my entire face w/ Maybelline's dream matte powder in light 0-1
3. I contoured/added some color with Lise Watier's bronzing powder in Havana Light
4. The blush that I used is Revlon's sheer powder blush in Hushed Blush

EYE & BROW PRODUCTS

1. I defined my brows w/ MUFE's waterproof eyebrow corrector in #4 (my new HG!!!)
2. I primed my eyes w/ Too faced eyeshadow insurance. Then I applied the blue/grey shade from MAC's mineralized bake eyeshadow in odd bits all over my lid past the crease. I used UD BS II eyeshadow in sellout (1st row, 2 column) as a highlighter on my brow bone & inner corner (new fave highlighter!).
3. I tightlined and lined my upper lash line w/ UD's 24/7 eyeliner in zero. Then lined the outter 1/3 of my lower lash line then topped off w/ a bit of the MAC blue-grey eyeshadow.
4. I used NYX jumbo eye pencil in cottage cheese (not pictured!) to line the outter 1/3 of my lower waterline to brighten up my eyes.
5. Finally I curled my eyelashes and used Diorshow iconic extreme mascara (gotta love this mascara but crazy expensive tho! ><)

LIP PRODUCTS

1. First I applied MAC HK pink fish lip conditioner then topped it with MAC HK lipgloss in Mimmy.

And finally the finished face......
sorry... I went a lil overboard w/ the camwhoring as always! :P

Hope you guys enjoyed this FOTD!! Bye bye for now!! :)

Review: New Revlon products!

I am finally in possession of a camera which takes decent-enough pictures for me to feel motivated to blog again.

Here are 3 new things I picked up a few days ago from Revlon:

1. the ever so popular PhotoReady foundation in 003 Shell

2.Super Lustrous lipgloss in pink pop

3.SL lipgloss in peach petal

Let's start off with a demo featuring the foundation + lipglosses
In the following two pics I used my new Revlon lipgloss in Pink Pop.

Face w/o foundation
(ughhh.. lots of discoloration :(.. and also pls excuse my oily lids haha it's been a long day)

Face with foundation
(ahh.. much better )
BTW I used a stippling brush to apply it.
Here I used my new Revlon lipgloss in Pink Pop.

After adding some blush & concealer...
I also used my new Revlon lipgloss in Peach Petal in these pictures. For a closer look at the shimmers in the foundation you'll have to click on the pics to enlarge.

My thoughts on the photoready foundation:
Blend-ability - 4/5
- very easy to blend, doesn't dry out too quickly
Coverage - 4/5
- great coverage, but I still need to apply some concealer to the under-eye area and blemishes
Price - 3/5
- it's around $23 Canadian, which is a bit on the expensive side for a drugstore foundation
Color match 4/5
- not too pink, not too yellow, really compliments my skintone!
Lasting power - 4/5
- at the end of a 8 hour shift my face still looked great, a lil oily but much better oil control vs. my bb creams!
+ it has a SPF of 20 :)

NOTE: In direct light, there seems to be a lot of tiny shimmers in this foundation. Personally I think the shimmers is what makes this foundation look great in photos. I don't really have a problem with them. However, I would tone down the shimmer level elsewhere on the face while using this foundation i.e. avoid using highly shimmery eyeshadows, blushes & lipglosses. Also I prefer to set this foundation w/ my maybelline dream matte powder to tone down the shimmers.

In conclusion, I have to say I think I'm in love with this foundation! I really like how it makes my skin look.. so smooth, flawless and bright! This is something I'll definitely buy again :)

Lipglosses:

Sticky factor - 4/5
- less sticky than MAC, but hair will still get stuck
Pigmentation - 3.5/5
- good enough to show up on my super pigmented lips
Lasting power - 3/5
- same as any other lipgloss, nothing too special

What really caught my eye with these glosses is that they contain no shimmer. They are very creamy in texture and color.

Check them out!

Bye bye for now! :)
